It’s time to kick off Bellingham’s Class of 2014 senior portrait season with a fun and beautiful prom dress session with twins Kassy and Tina from Bellingham High School. I loved this session with their gorgeous prom dresses and am looking forward to meeting the girls again this summer to shoot their casual portraits.

Wow!  I had the absolute pleasure to shoot another fun senior photo session, with another beautiful senior girl (another Miss “C”), at yet another spectacular piece of property!  My senior photo session with this most recent Miss “C” was a lot of fun.  It’s fun to get into a groove with these seniors, make a personal connection, and then make it a mission to get some unique and heartfelt images.  We had to duck through barbed wire fences, strategically watch our footing through horse pastures, and tromp through overgrown and wet fields that were alive in color from the recent rain.  Once again, we found beautiful nooks and wonderful light.

But what really makes these photo sessions so special for me, is the joy in finding that these Class of 2012 seniors, who are our world’s future leaders, are so capable, passionate, intelligent, poised, talented, friendly, funny, sincere, and beautiful (inside and out).  The last shot of this series was shot at Miss “C”‘s own garden.  This garden was her senior project and it is magnificent and absolutely flourishing.  It says a lot about a young girl who can sustain and nurture a large garden.  These Bellingham Class of 2012 seniors dream big.  And their parents should be very proud.

Here is a setup using off camera flash for some added drama.

And here is a shot of Miss “C”‘s amazing garden!  Onward and upward!

au·then·tic | adjective

of undisputed origin; made or done in a way that faithfully resembles an original.

I want every senior to have authentic senior portraits.  At first glance, the images should feel like they belong to that individual.  I want the images to capture the person’s character and say a little about the person’s interests, lifestyle and personality.

It would be an understatement to say that I was thrilled to have the opportunity to shoot this beautiful Senior Model’s portraits on her own family’s farm where she was raised.  It is a *real* working dairy and very much a part of this senior’s life.  Just the previous week, she had shown her own pig and cow at the Northwest Washington Fair in Lynden, Washington.  And then her own senior portraits on her farm.  How authentic is that?

I hope you find these portraits of “C” to be authentic to her spirit and her love for the outdoors.  She has a warm heart, a contagious and friendly personality, and a smile that lights up a room.  Or a barn.
